HERRING ISLAND EXHIBITION

CONTEMPORARY ART

Five of the artists participating in "Contemporary by Nature" have created an onsite, mixed media installation in the courtyard of the Gallery on Herring Island.

The installation, titled "Construct", is made entirely from natural materials, most of which were found on site: dead branches, twigs, bark, gum leaves, stones and feathers. It incorporates a variety of sculptural forms, some free standing, others suspended from the trees, and a twisting ground level form that brings them together in one big, innovative and exciting artwork.

It is a group collaboration by five participating artists: Robert Lee, Joy Elizabeth Lea, Rosemary Mangiamele, Edit Meaklim, and Cressida Fox.

"Construct" also features the many creative ways that natural materials can be used in art, making it a visual feast for the art lovers and the art creators to explore, and a fitting adjunct to the artworks in "Contemporary by Nature".
